Purpose and Scope of the Job
The position of Deputy Director – Data, Insights & Strategy is located within the Fundraising & Engagement Department.
The Deputy Director – Data, Insights and Strategy leads the coordination, monitoring and development process of our Fundraising & Engagement Strategy. The role will also provide organizational and department leadership on the use of data, insights, analysis, reporting and research to achieve Engagement planning and strategy development and monitoring. It will be the champion of the organization’s use of data & insights, and ensure this plays a central role in planning, strategy development and Fundraising & Engagement activity to enable effective supporter engagement and campaigning output across the organization.
The role will lead the organization’s use of data analysis and ensure staff, tools and systems enable analysis to be effectively applied.
The role will also be responsible for the effective management of E management and organizational leadership team, the role plays a key role in the development of FR&E and organizational strategy. The role will develop and lead the Fundraising & Engagement Data Strategy and set the direction of the effective use of data, analysis and insights. The role will provide strategic input for key decision-making and develop, in conjunction with the other Deputy Directors and Deputy Executive Director, robust KPIs and metrics.
The role is responsible for the leadership of the regional data analysis & insights functions, and leads the strategy planning, monitoring process and coordination within the Fundraising & Engagement Department. The role will work closely with the Finance Director and the Finance department to ensure alignment between financial forecasting and reporting.

Job responsibilities
Conceptual tasks, Strategy development and/or Project management
- Lead the planning process across the Fundraising & Engagement department and to ensure integration across departments. Work with the Deputy Executive Director and other Deputy Directors to ensure the FR&E strategy is effectively developed, monitored and reported.
- Design and lead robust and effective budget modelling and forecasting to support the development of FR&E strategy
- Lead on establishing income quantity and quality KPIs in addition to broader supporter engagement KPIs with a focus on sustainable income and committed support.
- Lead on the measurement, monitoring and communication of our Fundraising & Engagement performance effectively to stakeholders across the organization
- Provide strategic and financial decision support to senior management teams to underpin income growth.
- Head the team tasked with delivering insightful research and work with wider teams on deeper analysis of their programmes to support and drive growth in fundraising & engagement.
- Coordinate with the global organization on global reporting requirements
Implementation
- Database Management and Integrity: Empower, motivate and enable the CRM Manager and database management team to ensure integrity of all data in fundraising database, including: - Data processing: To facilitate the effective import/export of data between fundraising database and external systems/agencies, including the effective processing of donations - Data integrity: To ensure the organization’s systems and tools are fit for purpose, with all relevant regulations and applicable best practice followed in each jurisdiction
- Database and tools integration: To ensure effective integration between fundraising database and other E teams, with appropriate tools, training and work practices in place to support this
- Have responsibility for monitoring and evaluation, including responsibility for coordinating and developing monthly campaign and dashboard reporting, as well as management account variance reporting.
- Ensure key external trends and analysis, including benchmarking and other data sources are effectively applied within the organization
