Song-Hee Kim is an Associate Professor in the Division of Operations Management at SNU Business School, Seoul National University. Her research combines data-driven and behavioral approaches to understand and improve operational decision-making in healthcare and service systems, with a focus on hospital capacity and patient flow, human–algorithm interaction, and predictive and statistical models for service operations.

For more than fifteen years, she has collaborated with leading hospitals and health systems in Korea and the United States, including Samsung Medical Center, Yonsei Severance Hospital, Korea University Medical Center, the National Emergency Medical Center, Kaiser Permanente, Yale New Haven Hospital, and Keck Hospital of USC, on research using patient-flow and operational data.

Her work has been published in leading journals, including Management Science, Operations Research, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, Production and Operations Management, and Organization Science, and she has written for Harvard Business Review Digital Articles on digital transformation and hospital operations. Her honors include the Best OM Paper in Management Science Award, first prize in the MSOM Student Paper Competition, and recognition as a three-time finalist for the INFORMS Pierskalla Best Paper Award and a two-time finalist for the M&SOM Best Paper Award. At Seoul National University, she was named a Creative-Pioneering Researcher in 2022 and received the Special Research Year award in 2026, one of only three given to faculty across the university.

She currently serves as a Senior Editor for Production and Operations Management and as an Associate Editor for Management Science, Operations Research, and Manufacturing & Service Operations Management. She received the MSOM Society Best Associate Editor in Management Science Award in 2025 and the Production and Operations Management Best Senior Editor Award in 2026 for her editorial service.

At SNU, she teaches operations management, management science, business analytics, and data-driven decision-making across a range of programs, including the undergraduate, graduate, MBA, and Executive MBA programs and the Advanced Management Program (AMP). Before joining SNU in 2021, she was an Assistant Professor of Data Sciences and Operations at the Marshall School of Business, University of Southern California, for six years, and she was a Visiting Scholar at Harvard Business School in 2024–2025. She received her B.S. in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering from Cornell University and her M.S. and Ph.D. in Operations Research from Columbia University, and she was a Postdoctoral Associate at the Yale School of Management.
