Thesis Proposal Defense

Category Master’s Program Doctoral Program
Qualification to submit a thesis 1) Students who passed the foreign language test and the comprehensive test (major test)
2) Curriculum credits: Students who have registered for at least four semesters and have earned at least 24 credits

Register a research student After completion, the person who is scheduled to submit a thesis must register as a research student for the semester.

Acceptance criteria for thesis review More than B (approval of at least 2/3 of the judges) in the thesis (based on 100 points) and above 60 points in the oral exam. Approval from judges 4/5 or more in the final trial, average 70 points (based on 100 points) or more in the oral exam.However, the oral exam for Ph.D. is rated at 70 or higher by judges 4/5 or higher.

Submission of the Central Library by Silver Hard Kaba Part III (all judges are approved). Submission of the Central Library by the third part of the Gold Hard Kaba (which is approved by all judges).
(A consent form for the original paper of the degree paper shall be attached to the back page of the seal of the approval sheet.)

* Preservation papers must match the title and contents of the paper passed the final examination.
* The thesis review must be completed within the submission period only when the final approved preservation paper is submitted after passing the degree examination (pass). If you don't submit it, you'll be excluded from the list of degrees.
Extension of the publication date of a thesis If you apply for an extension of the deadline for writing a thesis after completing a course, you can extend it within two years after a certain examination.

Procedure for thesis review by major

Management Information Systems At the beginning of the semester, it would be judged by the thesis reviewers (major professors) in the mid-term and final examination
  • 1)In principle, the degree thesis is written in English.(Applies to doctoral programs after the 2006-01 semester.)
  • 2)The following requirements must be met before the application date for the doctoral thesis review.
    • ① There should be at least 200% domestic or 100% overseas paper performance.
      However, the doctoral program before the first semester of 2006 is 100 percent in domestic or 100 percent overseas.
    • ② The paper shall be published in co-authored with the guidance professor.
    • ③ Theses are limited to the overseas journals recognized by the major professors or to the listed sites of the Korean Academic Promotion Foundation (Korean Management Research, Asia Pacific Journal of Information Systems, Information Systems Review, The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies).
    • ④ The results of the paper will be calculated as 100 percent of the sole authors, 70 percent of the two-person co-authors, and 50 percent of the co-authors of three or more people. However, the major professors are excluded from the co-author in the achievement calculation.
  • 3)The thesis review committee consists of five members (at least one external member).
  • 4)Submission of the thesis will be completed if it passes the review after three mid-term and final reviews.

Marketing
  • - Marketing majors who plan to submit their master's thesis for the semester, unlike other majors, should decide on their thesis guidance professor by two weeks after the opening of the course, and inform the advisor and assistant of their intention to receive guidance and the topic of the thesis.If the number of students is excessively concentrated on a particular professor, the faculty can be reassigned through consultation.In this case, the list of the final students will be announced within three weeks after the opening of the class.

Operations Management To be judged by the thesis review committee (major professor) in the mid-term and final review. Conduct thesis review after interview with the principal professor and the principal professor of the major.
- Graduation Accreditation Journal: Domestic (Management Research, Journal of Korea Management Science, Journal of Korea Production Management Association, Journal of Quality Management Society), and Overseas (Contact Professor in charge of Ph.D. in the relevant major)
Organizational Behavior & Human Resource Management The thesis review committee (professors of the major) examines the thesis in the mid-term and final review. After an interview with the head professor of the doctoral program and the head professor of the relevant department, the thesis review is conducted.
- * Domestic Accredited academic journal : Korean Management Review, Korean Journal of Management, Journal of Organization and Management.
Finance While taking the investment management seminar course, which is a subject for academic thesis guidance, it would be examined by a thesis review committee member (major professor) during the mid-term and final reivew. Conduct thesis review after interview with the principal professor and the principal professor of the major.
- Financial Major Graduation Recognition Journal: Domestic (Securities Society Journal, Financial Research, Futures Research, Financial Management Research), Overseas (Contact the Principal Professor of the corresponding major Doctoral Program)
- Certificate of Accreditation for Graduation in Insurance Major: Domestic (Insurance Association Journal, Risk Management Research, Financial Research, Insurance Finance Research), Overseas (Contact Professor in charge of the corresponding major Doctoral Program)
Accounting Confirmation of detailed major fields (finance, management, tax, audit) related to the degree thesis while taking required major courses
- At the beginning of the semester, after an interview with a professor majoring in the relevant field, the thesis proposal is confirmed
- The thesis reviewer (professor of the major) will review the final examination.
- In principle, English is the language for the writing of the thesis and presentation of examinations.
 Graduation-recognized academic journals: Domestic (Accounting Research, Accounting Journal, Management Accounting Research, Tax Research), Overseas (The same applies to journals stipulated in the promotion requirements for accounting major teacher)
- At least one paper must be notified of publication in an overseas academic journal (a journal containing SSCI-E and SCI-E), Alternatively must pass the 1st trial (R&R) in the TOP 10(or excellenct academic journals) selected by Accounting and other majors and TOP journal selected by Financial Times (applicable from the 2nd semester of 2017 - The deadline for this regulation is before the final examination date for the doctoral thesis)
- In principle, English is the language for the writing of the thesis and presentation of examinations.
