Introducing the Donors: Alumni Kwang-il Kim, Jae-hoon Shin, and Do-Bong Park

Kwang-il Kim (Undergraduate Matriculating Class of ‘84), the chief of MBK Partners, one of the most representative private equity funds in Asia, donated one billion won to the “Deoksong Scholarship” and the “SNUBiz Entrepreneurship Fund” run by the Business School.
Alumnus Jae-hoon Shin (Undergraduate Matriculating Class of ‘84, Graduate Matriculating Class of ‘89) previously worked at Accenture, SK Networks, and Samsung SDS and was in charge of Global SAE-As future strategies. Now the CEO of SAE-A STX Entech, he donated 10 million won to the “SNUBiz Entrepreneurship Fund.”
Alumnus Do-Bong Park (AMP 68th) was recognized for his management skills after acquiring Dongyang Steel in 2002 and relisting it. Through his efforts, Aluko Group grew into a corporation with subsidiaries, including ALUKO, Hyundai Aluminum, KPTU, and Gogang Aluminum. He donated 50 million won to SNU Business School.

1. Kwang-il Kim, Head of MBK Partners, Donates 1 Billion Won to SNU Business School

Kwang-il Kim (Undergraduate Matriculating Year of ‘84), Head of MBK Partners, the leading private equity fund in Asia, donated an additional 400 million won to the “Deoksong Scholarship” and the “SNUBiz Entrepreneurship Fund,'' which makes his total contribution to Seoul National University one billion won. Mr. Kim was presented with a plaque of appreciation from Seoul National University at the Gwanak Campus on Tuesday, April 18, with SNU President Hong-rim Yoo, Vice Chairman of the SNU Foundation Ki-Hyeon Kim, Dean of Business School Sang-Hoon Kim, and Executive Director Jun-hwan Lee in attendance.

Mr. Kwang-il Kim commented, “As someone who received scholarships as a student, I know how important and necessary scholarships can be for students. I hope the Deoksong Scholarship not only provides students with the support for the costs of tuition and living expenses but also the time to focus on their studies.” Mr. Kim also advised and encouraged SNU Business School students to “become talented individuals who can take up the challenge of starting new businesses with the spirit of entrepreneurship.”
President Hong-rim Yoo expressed his gratitude and said, “I would like to express respect and gratitude to Mr. Kim for his interest and support for the development of the university and the nurturing of future generations. “Your generous donations will be used by the SNU Business School for fostering future leaders.”
The SNUBiz Entrepreneurship Fund is continuing its campaign to collect 10 billion won. The fund will be used as seed money for promising venture companies through a selection procedure run by a deliberative committee of on- and off-campus experts.


2. Alumnus Jae-hoon Shin, CEO of SAE-A STX Entech, Donates to SNU Business School Development Fund

Alumnus Jae-hoon Shin (Undergraduate Matriculating Class of ‘84, Graduate Matriculating Class of ‘89), CEO of SAE-A STX Entech, visited SNU Business School on May 11, to donate 10 million won to the “SNUBiz Entrepreneurship Fund.” The donation ceremony was attended by Mr. Jae-hoon Shin, CEO of SAE-A STX Entech, and Professor Sang-Hoon Kim, Dean of the Business School.

Alumnus Jae-hoon Shin previously worked at Accenture, SK Networks, and Samsung SDS and was in charge of Global SAE-As future strategies. He currently serves as the CEO of SAE-A STX Entech.

Founded last year, the SNUBiz Entrepreneurship Fund is being used as the seed money for promising venture companies founded by current undergraduate and graduate students and alumni of the SNU Business School.


3.?Alumnus Do-Bong Park, Chairman of the Aluko Group, Donates to SNU Business School Development Fund


Alumnus Do-Bong Park (AMP 68th), Chairman of the Aluko Group, visited SNU Business School on June 8 to donate 50 million won to the college’s development fund. The donation ceremony was attended by Mr. Do-Bong Park, Chairman of the Aluko Group, and Mr. Joon Young Park, CEO of Hyundai Aluminum, Dean Sang-Hoon Kim, and Vice Dean of Student Affairs Woojin Kim. Chairman Do-Bong Park’s management skills were widely acknowledged by acquiring Dongyang Steel in 2002 and reenlisting it. Through his efforts, the Aluko Group grew into a corporation with subsidiaries, including ALUKO, Hyundai Aluminum, KPTU, and Gogang Aluminum. Mr. Park has also been awarded the AMP Grand Prize in January 2023. His generous donations will be used to create a library for the Advanced Management Program.
