Award Ceremony for the 2022 First Hyunwoo Kwak Soo-il Research Award
Professor Sun Hyun Park received the "Hyunwoo Kwak Soo-il Research Award" ceremony held at the Seoul National University Faculty Club on July 20. The event was attended by Professor Emeritus Soo-il Kwak, Professor Sang-Hoon Kim, Dean of the SNU Business School, Professor Jong-hag Choi, Vice-Dean for Academic Affairs, Professor Youjae Lee, and Youn Sung Kim, a trustee of the foundation.
The "Hyunwoo Kwak Soo-il Research Award" was established to honor the efforts of Business School faculty members who have made outstanding academic achievements throughout the year and raised the position of the school to a higher level. Professor Sun Hyun Park became the first recipient of this prestigious award.
Professor Sun Hyun Park has researched management strategies and international management and published prolifically in various top journals. As of last year, he published a total of seven papers in respected academic journals at home and abroad. Professor Park's recent research topics include organizational change based on social network analysis, an increase in group cognitive diversity, and corporate innovation.
Professor Emeritus Soo-il Kwak sent words of encouragement, saying that "I am pleased to see such an exceptional alumnus professor receiving the first award. I sincerely hope he can continue his research and go beyond the Business School and become a world-class scholar."
Professor Sun Hyun Park replied, "It is an honor to become the first recipient of the Hyunwoo Kwak Soo-il Research Award, which was generously launched by Professor Emeritus Soo-il Kwak. I will keep the mission of this award in mind and will further devote myself to research."
Dean Sang-Hoon Kim commented, "I believe that the Hyunwoo Kwak Soo-il Research Award is Professor Emeritus Soo-il Kwak's way of expressing his deep love towards Seoul National University, where he has taught students for four decades after being appointed at the age of 26. I hope that the professors receiving the prize will become respected scholars of management like Professor Soo-il Kwak, a lifetime member of the National Academy of Sciences, and make the SNU Business School proud."
