Dean Hongsuk Yang majored in business administration as an undergraduate student at Seoul National University and earned a Master's in Business Administration from the Seoul National University Graduate School.

After receiving an MS in industrial engineering from Stanford University, he earned his PhD from the Graduate School of Business at the University of Chicago (specializing in operations management).

Professor Yang was a professor at the University of Utah until 2008, when he joined the Seoul National University Business School, where he currently serves as the Dean.

Greetings, I am Hongsuk Yang, the new Dean of SNU Business School.

SNU Business School is where we nurture the brightest minds in South Korea. The brilliant students at the Business School will go on to design social systems that will have significant long-term impacts on the lives of many people. The Business School will educate our students to be exceptional designers of such systems and to contribute to improving the lives of people in Korea and around the world.

Universities should not limit themselves to compiling and disseminating information from the world; they should conduct cutting-edge research for the future. SNU Business School can contribute to society by leading discussions and preparing for the future through top-notch research. This is a mission the SNU Business School can excel at and should outperform any other university in Korea. The Business School will continue and strengthen its support for top-notch research, improve the quality of education, and enhance the university’s social impact and international standing.

The year 2026 marks the twentieth anniversary of the Seoul National University Business School. I kindly ask for the continued interest and support of the Business School community.

While SNU Business School is both my alma mater and my workplace, it holds an even greater place in my life. I will do my very best to help SNU Business School contribute to the future of the world.
