교수소개

서울대학교 경영대의 조성욱 교수는 서울대 (경제학 학사/석사)와 하버드대 (경제학 박사)를 졸업하였습니다. 조성욱교수는 1997-2003년 한국 개발 연구원 (KDI) 법경제팀에서 재벌에 대한 정부 정책과 경쟁 정책을 조언하고 평가했습니다. 대학으로 온 이후, 증권선물위원회 비상임위원을 역임하였으며 (2013.4-2019.4) 현재는 규제개혁위원회 위원입니다. 조교수는 금융정보학회 회장과 금융학회부회장을 역임했습니다. 그녀는 현재 금융학회의 감사이며 산업조직학회 이사입니다.

조성욱 교수는 경쟁정책, 재벌정책 및 기업지배구조 전문가입니다. 조교수의 연구는 경쟁이 치열해지고 재정적 압박과 퇴출 위협이 있는 어려운 환경에서 기업과 사람들이 어떻게 행동하는지를 보여줍니다. 예를 들어, 조교수의 연구에 따르면 기업경영진의 보수가 경영진의 인센티브에 영향을 줄 때, 회사는 경영진 인센티브를 사용하여 경쟁 업체와 공모하여 시장경쟁을 줄이려는 것으로 나타났습니다 (Review of Economics and Statistics). 조교수는 또한 치열한 경쟁에 직면해 있는 조직의 사람들의 성과가 하락하는 것을 발견하였으며, 따라서 구조조정은 신속히 이루어져야 한다고 제안했습니다 (BE Journal of Economic Analysis and Policy). 또한 조교수는 미시자료를 이용하여 중소기업의 동태적 변화 및 기업의 IPO를 분석합니다.

또한 조교수는 지나치게 높은 부채에 의존한 기업 및 재벌의 기업지배구조가 낙후되어 기업의 수익성이 낮았고, 연쇄적 도산이 발생하여 1997년 경제위기를 초래했다는 사실을 밝혔습니다. 이 연구는 Journal of Financial Economics 명예의 전당에 포함되어 있습니다. 조성욱 교수는 또한 이사회와 정경유착 등을 포함한 기업지배구조 문제를 연구하고 있습니다.
