Jinsoo Park is Park Jung Boo Professor of Information Systems in the Graduate School of Business at Seoul National University. He was formerly on the faculties of the Department of Information and Decision Sciences in the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota (1999~2002) and the College of Business Administration at Korea University (2002~2005). He received a B.A. degree in American Studies from Keimyung University in 1991, MBA and MS degrees in Management Information Systems from the University of Pittsburgh in 1994 and a Ph.D. degree in Management Information Systems from the University of Arizona in 1999.
His research interests are in the areas of ontology, the Semantic Web, semantic interoperability and metadata management in inter-organizational information systems, heterogeneous database management and integration, knowledge sharing and coordination, intelligent agents for information resource management, and data modeling.
His research has mainly focused on data management issues in heterogeneous and distributed information systems. Dr. Park is the Best Paper/Research award recipient by the Korea Society of MIS and Korean Intelligent Information System Society. He currently serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Database Management, the International Journal of Principles and Applications in Information Science and Technology. He is also Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Intelligence and Information Systems, and Associate Editor of the Asia Pacific Journal of Information Systems. His past academic service includes Associate Editor of Information Systems Review (ISR), the Journal of Intelligence and Information Systems, and the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS). One of his articles published in MIS Quarterly was selected as the most cited business/economics paper by Thomson Reuters, who manages listing of SCI/SSCI journals.
