AACSB Accreditation

AACSB Accreditation

AACSB : The international institution for the examination and accreditation of the educational standard of business schools over the world.

Mission: AACSB International advances quality management education worldwide through accreditation, thought leadership, and value-added services.

AACSB provides internationally recognized, specialized accreditation for business and accounting programs at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral level. The AACSB Accreditation Standards challenge post-secondary educators to pursue excellence and continuous improvement throughout their business programs. AACSB Accreditation is known, worldwide, as the longest standing, most recognized forms of specialized/professional accreditation an institution and its business programs can earn.

Today, the AACSB Accreditation Standards are used as the basis to evaluate a business school’s mission, operations, faculty qualifications and contributions, programs, and other critical areas. AACSB accreditation ensures students and parents that the business school is providing a top-quality education. It also ensures employers that AACSB-accredited business school graduates are ready to perform on day one. Additionally, AACSB accreditation provides many benefits to the faculty and staff at its accredited schools by attracting higher quality students, providing greater research opportunities, and allowing for global recognition.

SNU Business School was given full accreditation by the AACSB in September 2002. It is meaningful in that this is the first accreditation for a business school in South Korea and also the forth in Asia. This accreditation means that the education system of SNU Business School meets the standards and provides the education programs that the AACSB requires. The rigorous accreditation criteria are only met by about 10% of approximately 4,000 business schools in the United States of America.

In December 2012, SNU Business School received accreditation maintenance by submitting a maintenance report and by been evaluated by the visiting peer review team from AACSB.

Due to its accreditation, it has become possible for the SNU Business School to conduct a variety of reciprocal programs with other accredited institutions, including visiting professor programs, joint research programs, and dual-degree programs.
